Spare room available? List your room to host international students in your home!  Do people describe you as a friendly, fun-loving person? If so, you are exactly the kind of person we at Global Booking Service are looking for.

We need people like you who can provide international students with safe and comfortable homestay or independent student housing, and a chance to experience Aussie culture. Our hope is that both host families and guests come away from this experience with lifelong memories and cherished friendships.

Here’s what you should know.

What Are the Responsibilities of a Homestay Host?

As a homestay host, you’ll be responsible for providing your guest with a quiet, furnished room, meals and access to essential amenities, such as a washing machine and dryer. In exchange for your generosity, you’ll receive payments of between $170 and $275 per student per week, depending on the type of room and package.  For more information on responsibilities click here…

How Do I Apply?

The application process to become a host family is simple. Once you submit an application, one of our team will be in contact with you to organise a home visit. This can be in person or virtual. You then need to complete an online orientation.

Step 1. Apply

Take a look at our register your property form. This form asks for some personal information and then lets you fill in your preferences, such as how old you’d like your guest to be and whether you allow smoking or not. Keep in mind that all students are over 18 years old.

Step 2. Orientation

After completing your application, you will also need to complete your orientation and review the responsibilities of a host. This will help you understand what is expected and give you a better understanding of hosting students from different cultures. You should familiarise yourself with the Terms and Conditions.

Step 3. Home Visit

The final step of the application process is a home visit conducted by one of the members of our team here at GBS. The purpose of this visit is to make sure that your home is ready to accommodate your guest. Your home visit may be in person, or virtual. Our team will respect your privacy and only inspect the rooms and amenities your guests will be using. We will also ensure you have the correct paperwork to process a Blue Card or Working With Children check for any permanent residents over the age of 18 if you don’t already have one. This is for the safety of our guests, and is required regardless of the age of the students you are hosting.
